This is another motorized table that is utilized in many chiropractic offices. Sometimes called a roller table, there are three rollers inside the table that move up and down your back to introduce passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints, which increases mobility. Traction is also used to increase the fluid supply to the joints and disks. Since discs have a poor blood supply, they get nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints. Fixations prevent this natural circulation and can cause disc thinning and degeneration. Intersegmental traction helps increase and restore necessary elasticity and motion to the spine.
